cropping shots

I have slightly changed the compositions of the shots in my interview by using the transform option in final cut. i think this is definitely worth it as it can change a shot that some one else is using and also improve the composition dramatically.

this first shot is good but there are bits that draw you away from the content, as the shot is only up very briefly i dont want all the little distractions in there.

you can see that once i have changed it there is no longer the blue chair in the bottom corner. also someones blond hair been removed. i slightly changed the horizontal positioning as there was a bit of paper from the book on her arm. looking at this image again i wish to change the top grey bit on the wall. this could simply be changed by stretching the video section ever so slightly.

lower thirds

As a class we have all agreed on a specific rule when making the lower thirds for the interviews. obviously you change the PSD files accordingly for your podcast tittle and persons name.
The black bar with text should fade in together over around half a second and should be visible for around 3 to 4 seconds they then fade out similar to how they begun.

The agreed proportions for the lower thirds are as follows;

Text > Lower Thirds

Text: Name
Font: Arial 45pts
Style: Bold

Text: Course
Font: Arial 36pts
Style: Normal

Matte > Colour Solid

Colour: Black
Opacity: 40%
Crop:
Top – 70
Bottom – 10

sound

When i filmed my interview i was on my own so didnt have an external sound boom or any one to help me, to over come this problem as best as i could i placed the camera as close to the subject as i could. this is far from ideal but i had to do that. i have used sound correction to make it louder also i edited out all back ground noise as best as i could. i mad a few umms and arrs during the interview and needed to get rid of those if i was to use that footage. when setting up the camera i made sure that windows where closed to help noise and also doors where closed.

Review of interview

I have now completed my interview and captured all footage. it went well and i am please with how i question my subject in a conversational way like i planned. i used my questions as prompts and the subject was very good and friendly.

Podcasting Assignment

I have been given my new assignment to plan, shoot, edit and create a short film that will be used on the Sussex Downs website as a podcast to give an insight in to the access and Access to Medicine courses.
