These are photos that i have taken using an ignited spray can. i am working towards a whole alphabet using this method. these images have been added to the experimental section on my typography site.

hand made font

I wanted to add extra articles once i have added all the ones required. i have added under 'handmade' a selection of types made by HandMadeFont. they are a Estonia based design company who specialize in unique and untraditional fonts. i have taken images from there site and place them on to a white back ground with bull dog clips to make them more consistent and interesting.

final template

This is my final template. i have added the logo in the top left corner. i am pleased with the overall look of the site. i have added quotes i like on the home page also a nice image of a wax stamp.

type illustrations

I have begun making images for the 'mechanical' section of the site. this will include type face examples and also the technical terms of typography. i am using illustrator to produce these images. i have used a consistent font for all the technical illustrations. i wanted a font that was reconcilable and that had all the stereo typical characteristics, i have chosen times new roman for this.

templates

I have added a few templates to experiment with how easy it is to customize them, i know that i will not be using some of the ones i have used so far. when i look for my final template i want it to be easy to customize and also have a professional look to it. i am not keen on any thing to fussy and over the top. it has to be easy to navigate round and also show the content clearly and legibly.

problems

when making the log in pages for registered users on my site i encountered some problems. as if you click add new article from the list view on the home page you could not save an article with out it being in a category. To get over this i had to click add new article from the main menu. this then allowed a blank article to be saved with out any categories attached to it.

To get the information needed for my articles i will need to research the correct terms and also research typographers. my initial research on type terms was from the following web sites;

research- HEAD KANDI

This is the Head Kandi web site that uses a content management system. the site has a lot of information on it and many different categories and articles. a content management system would be perfect for this client as it also has content it needs to delete when club nights have passed ect.



Below is a screen shot of me exploring the site. this is the art work page and its presented out in a mock up gallery using flash. this is an effective way to show the artwork that Head Kandi offer. its also consistent with the style of the site and also the vector illustrations. you can see the tittle on the top of the page has space for different adverts to promote things with in the site.



The log in page for users is on the home page and placed about half way down the page in between content. this is an odd place to have a log in page as its could interrupt the content of the site. the information is very small and fitting with the overall design of the site so it does work for this particular web site.

research- NUBIE

Nubie is a modern kids boutique that offers modern products for your child, it is fitting that they have a slick stylish and contemporary design to there site. There site uses a content management. This is yet another example of a content management system working well in a commercial environment.



Below is a screen shot of the site being used. The site has a nice consistent design and i like how each page is unique in its own way by having a different colored border around the content box.


This is there log in page. You can see that they can log in with an existing users details or create new users from this page. again this page is designed well and consistent with the whole site.

The new project we have all been set is about using a content management system. i am expected to produce a site with at least 40 different articles published. The content of the site is all about typography. the theme of the content is interesting for me becuase i really enjoy working with and exploring typography.
